JK Govt Allocates 53 Kanals of Land to CRPF in North Kashmir
The Jammu and Kashmir government has recently allotted 53 kanals of state land to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for establishing a battalion camping site in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir. The Revenue Department of Jammu and Kashmir formalized this transfer of 53 kanals and three marlas of land to the CRPF. The decision was made by the administrative council, which is headed by the Lieutenant Governor. This council approved the proposal during its meeting on June 7, signaling a significant step towards bolstering security infrastructure in the area.
Under the provisions of Rule 310 of the General Financial Rules, 2017, the land has been transferred to the paramilitary force for a payment of Rs 3 crore and 44 lakh. This financial arrangement underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that the CRPF has the necessary resources and facilities to carry out its duties effectively.
An official order from the Revenue Department specifies that the CRPF must adhere to all relevant laws and regulations before utilizing the land. This includes compliance with laws related to the Revenue, Housing & Urban Development Department, Forest, and the J&K Water Resources (Regulation and Management) Act, 2010. These stipulations are designed to ensure that the land is used responsibly and sustainably.
The terms and conditions of the land transfer require the CRPF to take possession of the land within 30 days from the date of the transfer order. Additionally, the CRPF must put the land to use within three years. This timeline is critical to ensure that the land is utilized promptly and does not remain idle.
If the CRPF fails to meet these conditions, the land will revert to the government. This clause ensures accountability and underscores the importance of timely and efficient use of the allocated land. The government aims to prevent any potential misuse or neglect of the valuable resource.
