Weather Update,MeT Forecast Dry Weather in J&K with Temperature Anomalies
The weather department in Srinagar has forecast generally dry weather with the possibility of thundershower activity in the afternoon at a few places until May 10. They anticipate partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder at a few places on May 11. May 12 might bring generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow over higher reaches and thunder activity at few places. Partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain at a few places is expected on May 13.
Temperature-wise, Srinagar recorded a low of 11.2°C, slightly above normal for this time of the year. Qazigund saw a minimum of 11.6°C, significantly above normal, while Pahalgam recorded 3.7°C, slightly below normal. Kokernag and Kupwara recorded temperatures above normal, while Gulmarg saw temperatures below normal.
In Jammu, the temperature dipped to 19.6°C, below normal for the winter capital. Other areas like Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah also experienced temperatures slightly below normal.
The weatherman pointed out that Pahalgam, a famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 3.7°C against 6.1°C on the previous night, which was 1.2°C below normal. Similarly, Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded a minimum of 3.0°C against 3.5°C on the previous night, below normal by 1.3°C.
Regarding temperature variations, Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded a minimum of 10.3°C against 8.6°C, marking a 1.9°C rise above normal. Meanwhile, Kupwara town recorded a minimum of 7.0°C against 9.4°C, showing a 1.4°C increase above normal.
Jammu, the winter capital of J&K, recorded a low of 19.6°C against 22.1°C on the previous night, marking a drop below normal by 3.0°C. Additionally, Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah also experienced temperatures slightly below normal, adding to the variance observed across different regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
