Weather Update, Rain Snow Expected In Kashmir From

Kashmir is bracing itself for light to moderate rains over the next 48 hours, accompanied by thunders, as reported by the meteorological department. As a result, night temperatures have risen across the region, settling above normal for this time of year. In Srinagar, the minimum temperature increased to 9.9°C, marking a notable 5.2°C above the usual for the summer capital.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, experienced a minimum temperature of 6.4°C, also surpassing the normal by 2.4°C. Pahalgam, renowned for its scenic beauty, recorded a low of minus 3.0°C, which was 2.9°C above the seasonal average. Similarly, Kokernag witnessed a minimum of 8.2°C, marking a deviation of 4.7°C from the norm.

Conversely, Kupwara town experienced a lower temperature at 7.3°C, registering a deviation of 4.2°C below the usual. Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort, recorded a minimum of 3.2°C, exceeding the normal by 5.5°C. Meanwhile, Jammu, the winter capital, saw a minimum temperature of 18.4°C, slightly below the seasonal average by 3.5°C.

Other regions such as Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah also witnessed varying temperatures, with Banihal recording a low of 9.0°C, Batote at 11.6°C, and Bhaderwah at 5.0°C. The meteorological department has forecasted the possibility of light to moderate rain/snow accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds over the plains of Kashmir and Jammu division until March 22.

Following this, the weather is expected to be generally dry on March 23, with partly to generally cloudy conditions and light rain/snow at a few places on March 24. From March 25-26, generally dry weather is anticipated, while March 27-28 might see partly to generally cloudy conditions with the possibility of light rain/snow at some places.
