Traffic Update – Jammu and Kashmir, January 15-16, 2024
From 15-01-2024, 1700 hrs. to 16-01-2024, 1700 hrs., slow movement reported on NH-44 at Dalwas due to HMV breakdowns and poor road conditions at Cafeteria-Mehad, Magerkote, Nachlana, and Hingani between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel.
For safety, NHAI directed by District Magistrate Ramban to suspend traffic between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel on 17-01-2024 (0000-0600 hrs.) and 18-01-2024 (0000-0600 hrs.) for girder launching and ventilation installation.
Passengers/LMV operators urged to prefer daytime travel on Jammu-Srinagar NHW due to shooting stone concerns during night hours between Ramban and Banihal.
HMV operators advised against overloading, ensuring vehicle fitness, and carrying sufficient fuel on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Only 06 and 10-tyre HMVs allowed on Dhar road.

Subject to weather and road clearance, LMVs/HMVs shall be allowed on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
- Lane discipline advised for commuters.
SFs Convoy Movement:
- Security Forces vehicles permitted on Jammu-Srinagar NHW from both sides.
SSG Road:
- Vehicular movement allowed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road, with specified timings for LMVs and HMVs.
Mughal Road:
- Subject to weather and road conditions, vehicular movement allowed on Mughal road from Poonch to Shopian and vice versa.
Advisory:
- Confirm road status with Traffic Control Units before traveling on NH-44.
