Rehana Batul Reviews functioning of Information & PR Department

On January 16, 2024, Secretary of the Information Department, Rehana Batul, undertook a comprehensive review of the department’s operations at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Director of Information & PR Jatin Kishore, Special Secretary Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, and Joint Director Information Jammu Atul Gupta.

Key achievements highlighted during the meeting included the department’s exemplary media coverage of the G20 Summit, the launch of a revamped website in November 2023, and the adoption of a new logo in July the previous year. Director Jatin Kishore emphasized these accomplishments, setting the stage for the discussions.

Joint Director (Headquarters) Veveik Puri provided valuable insights into the department’s work profile and major policies, including Media Policy 2020. He also discussed the department’s successful participation in the International Film Festival 2023 in Goa.

Secretary Batul commended the department for granting over 300 film shooting permissions in Jammu and Kashmir, showcasing its commitment to the film industry nationally and internationally. She expressed satisfaction with the positive response received during the International Film Festival, emphasizing the importance of continuous training for staff and the provision of state-of-the-art equipment.

Secretary Batul shared her vision for the department, emphasizing the importance of regular training sessions and collaboration with national premier institutions. She praised the routine work of the Public Relations section for providing real-time information to the public through press releases.

The meeting extensively discussed various issues, including journalist accreditation, newspaper empanelments/dempanelments, and the renovation of DIPR offices in districts, Jammu, and Srinagar. The Secretary stressed the crucial role of the PR wing in disseminating government programs, schemes, and initiatives to the public.
