Snowfall/Rain Likely in Kashmir: MeT Deptt., Check dates
Srinagar, Feb 23 (WD): The Meteorological department forecasts mainly dry weather in Jammu And Kashmir until February 26, with no significant weather activity expected during this period.
From February 27-29, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain/snow at scattered to fairly widespread places across the region, according to the weather forecast.
27th-28th Feb: Possibility of Light to moderate Rain/Snow at many places.
29th Feb: Possibility of Light Rain/Snow at isolated places. 1st-3rd March: Possibility of Light to moderate Rain/Snow at most places with heavy Rain/snow at isolated middle & higher reaches during 2nd & 3rd March. (Details will be shared at appropriate time.
In view of heavy to very heavy snowfall over few middle & Higher reaches:Travellers/Tourists are advised to follow admin/Traffic police advisory.General public over hilly areas are advised not to venture in Avalanche prone areas & slopy areas. (Follow avalanche warnings & advisories) Chances of Landslides/Mudslides and shooting stones at few places.
Night temperatures have dropped in Jammu and Kashmir, with Gulmarg, the famous ski resort, recording a temperature of minus 10.4°C, and Pahalgam at minus 8.6°C on Thursday.
Srinagar recorded a low of minus 1.0°C, below normal by 1.9°C for this time of year, as reported by a meteorological department official to Wattan Daily.
Qazigund registered a minimum of minus 4.4°C, down from 0.0°C the previous night, significantly below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.
Pahalgam’s temperature dropped to minus 8.6°C, 4.6°C below normal, while Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded minus 5.4°C, below normal by 4.7°C.
Other areas such as Kupwara, Gulmarg, Jammu, Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah also experienced varying degrees of temperature drops, indicating widespread cooling across the region.(Wattan Daily)
