Vande Bharat train for J&K to be ready soon: ICF GM

Chennai, Jan 26 (WD):

In Chennai, on January 26, B.G. Mallya, the General Manager of the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), announced a significant development. The ICF, recognized as the world’s largest railway passenger coach maker, is set to roll out a Vande Bharat Express rake specifically tailored for Jammu and Kashmir.

During the Republic Day celebrations, Mallya shared details about ICF’s ongoing projects. The first project, the Vande Metro, is a fully air-conditioned inter-city train service, with plans to unveil the first prototype by March this year. Following this, Mallya highlighted the next venture: the Vande Bharat Express rake designed for Jammu and Kashmir. The adaptation will include modifications to withstand the challenging climatic conditions prevalent in the region, and ICF aims to launch this specialized rake in the near future.

Despite challenges in the supply chain, Mallya acknowledged a significant achievement from the previous year. The ICF successfully produced the 50th Vande Bharat rake, showcasing resilience and commitment to their goals.

Moreover, Mallya shared insights into a collaborative effort with CLW (Chittaranjan Locomotive Works). Together, they introduced the Amrit Bharat push-pull train in October. This initiative stands as a boon for the common man, promising an improved travel experience compared to existing options. The developments at ICF reflect advancements in railway technology and a dedication to enhancing transportation services for the public.
