Stolen Donation Box Of Shrine Recovered, Suspect Arrested in North Kashmir

Srinagar, June 15: Police on Saturday announced the resolution of a theft case at a shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district with the arrest of the accused.

On Friday, the Police Post Old Town Baramulla received a written complaint from the Intizamia Committee of Masjid Madina Dargah Aaliya, located in Old Town Baramulla. The committee reported that thieves had looted a donation box during the night.

In response to the complaint, a case under section 479 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Police Station Baramulla. The police promptly initiated an investigation into the incident.

“During the investigations and technical analysis of the case, the accused was identified as Waseem Ahmad Chichek,” the police statement read. Waseem Ahmad Chichek is the son of Abdul Gaffar and a resident of Lal Baab Sahab Arampora Sopore.

Following his identification, Waseem Ahmad Chichek was arrested for his involvement in the theft. The police conducted thorough interrogations to gather more information about the crime.

The accused confessed to the crime during the interrogation. He also led the police to the location where he had concealed the stolen property, which facilitated its recovery.

The recovery of the stolen items has brought relief to the Intizamia Committee and the local community. The police have assured that they will continue their efforts to prevent such incidents in the future.

The prompt action by the police in solving the case has been appreciated by the residents of Baramulla. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help maintain law and order in the area. –(UNI)
