School Education Dep, Failed To Utilize Fund’s in Lakh’s in Past Four years
The School Education Department has failed to utilize the full funds allocated under the Revex budget for elementary and secondary level education in the past four years.
According to official figures, in the fiscal year 2020-21, a total of Rs 224027.73 lakh was allocated for elementary education, but only Rs 210502.12 lakh was utilized.
Similarly, for secondary level education, Rs 194950.96 lakh was allocated, but only Rs 161246.67 lakh was utilized, primarily for salary and administrative expenses.
In the year 2021-22, the department received Rs 230413.75 lakh and Rs 213576.46 lakh for elementary and secondary education, respectively. However, only Rs 226533.35 lakh and Rs 186743.39 lakh were utilized.
The trend continued in the year 2022-2023, with the department receiving Rs 262777.61 lakh and Rs 218079 lakh for elementary and secondary education, respectively. But, only Rs 257062.91 lakh and Rs 206626.51 lakh were utilized.
In the current fiscal year 2023-24, the department was allocated Rs 281102.35 lakh and Rs 223962.05 lakh for elementary and secondary education, respectively. However, only Rs 275307.50 lakh and Rs 215937.97 lakh have been utilized so far.
The official figures reveal a consistent pattern of underutilization of funds by the School Education Department, raising concerns about the effective use of resources for education.
