RTO Kashmir Clarifies: Rs 5 Lakh Subsidy Applicable Only to Over 15-Year-Old Buses
In a recent statement, Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, Shahnawaz Bukhari, emphasized that the newly introduced amnesty scheme for vehicles over 15 years old is exclusively designed for buses. The subsidy of Rs 5 lakh is specifically aimed at supporting bus owners looking to replace buses that have exceeded the 15-year lifespan.
Speaking to Wattan Daily English/Urdu, RTO Kashmir highlighted that the scheme’s focus is on assisting bus owners, and applications for the subsidy can be submitted by those seeking to replace their old buses with new ones. He mentioned potential expansion to other vehicle segments like mini-buses based on received feedback.
Regarding the backlog in driving license issuances, RTO Kashmir addressed concerns by stating that the printing of driving licenses has been outsourced to a government agency. He assured the public that concerted efforts would be made to clear the backlog within the next 15 to 30 days.
