PDD daily wager dies of Electric Shock in North Kashmir

A tragic incident occurred in the Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, resulting in the death of a Power Development Department (PDD) daily wager. The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The deceased has been identified as Gh Mohd Wani, the son of Habibullah Wani. He was a resident of Seeriguiwa Dangerpora and was 50 years old. Wani was performing his duties as a daily wager for the PDD department when the fatal accident occurred.

According to an official from the PDD, Wani was engaged in rectifying a fault in a smart meter at the time of the incident. During this process, he received a severe electric shock that proved to be fatal.

Upon receiving the shock, Wani was rushed to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pattan for urgent medical treatment. Despite the prompt medical response, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, unable to recover from the severe electrical trauma.

The news of Wani’s death has sent ripples through the local community, highlighting the risks faced by workers in the power sector, especially those on daily wages. His sudden demise has raised concerns about the safety measures and protocols in place for such workers.
