Tragedy at Kulgam Hospital: Minor Boy Dies Due to Alleged Medical Negligence

A 6-year-old boy, Abu Talha, admitted to the District Hospital in Kulgam, has died due to alleged medical negligence, sparking outrage among the family and attendants.

The family claims that despite repeated pleas, no doctor attended to the child throughout the night, leading to his deteriorating condition and eventual death.

The boy was admitted to the hospital on Monday after vomiting, but his condition worsened due to lack of medical attention, with no tests or treatments recommended by the hospital staff.

The family and attendants of other patients have alleged that the hospital staff was scarce and unresponsive, leading to the child’s death.

Following the incident, scores of families gathered at the hospital gate to protest against the medical negligence, demanding action against the guilty.

The Tehsildar and police reached the spot to pacify the protesters, and an investigation has been launched into the incident.

Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Rather, has assured action against anyone found guilty, stating that a probe has been launched into the matter.

This incident is not an isolated case, as The Kashmiriyat has documented several cases of medical negligence across Kashmir, highlighting the need for accountability and improvement in healthcare services.
