Kashmiri Student Found Dead in Punjab University

March 4 (WD) A tragic incident occurred at Desh Bhagat University (DBU) in Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab, where a final year BSc Radiology student named Zahid, hailing from the Tral area of South Kashmir, was found dead in his hostel room on Monday.

According to reports, Zahid had been socializing with other students in the common room until late hours before retiring to his room alone. Shockingly, when his friends went to check on him later, they discovered him hanging from the ceiling fan.

The exact cause of Zahid’s death remains unconfirmed at this time. His family has been notified, and they are expected to arrive at the hospital soon.

This unfortunate incident is not the first of its kind to have struck the university.

Just last year, on 31 July, another student named Zeeshan Ahmad, son of Irshad Ahmad Baigh and a BAMS student at DBU’s Fatehgarh Sahib campus, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a building.

Despite attempts to reach out to the university authorities for comments on Zahid’s death, they have not responded to inquiries from the media.
