The Jammu and Kashmir Government’s Finance Department has issued an order regarding the payment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to government employees. This is based on the revised rates effective from 01.07.2023, as mentioned in the General Administration Department’s letter dated 11.12.2023.

For government employees in regular pay levels under the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, the Dearness Allowance has been revised. The existing rate was 42% of the Basic Pay, and now it will be 46% of the Basic Pay, starting from 01.07.2023.

The term ‘Basic Pay’ refers to the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the Pay matrix according to the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, excluding other types of pay like special pay.

Arrears for the increased Dearness Allowance from July 2023 to November 2023 will be credited in the GPF accounts for employees appointed before 01.01.2010. For NPS employees, these arrears will be paid in cash. The revised Dearness Allowance will be part of the monthly salary from December 2023.

Payments involving a fraction of 50 paisa and above will be rounded to the next higher rupee, while fractions less than 50 paisa will be ignored.

This order is issued on behalf of the Lieutenant Governor.
