Jammu and Kashmir Government Extends Medical College Working Hours

In a bid to enhance patient care services, the Health and Medical Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has implemented significant changes in the working hours of Government Medical and Dental colleges across the region. The decision, outlined in an official order, extends the working days and hours, aiming to optimize healthcare delivery and accommodate the needs of patients.

Effective immediately, the new working schedule mandates a reporting time of 9 am for all medical and dental staff at Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) and Government Dental Colleges (GDCs) in Jammu and Kashmir. Similarly, the relieving time has been set at 5 pm on all weekdays, excluding Saturdays.

This initiative aims to streamline operations and ensure healthcare facilities are more accessible to patients throughout the week. The revised timings, with a standard lunch break from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm, are designed to create a conducive environment for medical professionals to deliver efficient and effective care.

By extending the working hours, the Health and Medical Education Department seeks to address the growing demand for medical services and improve the overall patient experience. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to prioritizing healthcare and bolstering the capabilities of medical institutions in the region.

The revised schedule not only benefits patients but also provides medical and dental staff with structured working hours, fostering a more organized and productive work environment. With consistent reporting and relieving times, healthcare providers can better manage their schedules and allocate resources effectively.

This move comes as part of broader efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare services in Jammu and Kashmir, aligning with the government’s vision to promote accessible and inclusive healthcare for all residents. The extension of working days and hours in government medical and dental colleges marks a significant step forward in achieving this goal.
