Fraudster arrested as Marriage Scam busted in Baramulla

Baramulla, Jan 01 (WD):

In Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, a significant development unfolded as the local police in Baramulla exposed and apprehended a perpetrator involved in a marriage scam on January 1st. The investigation was initiated in response to a written application filed at Police Post Delina by Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, the brother of one of the parties involved.

Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat reported that his brother’s marriage ceremony, scheduled for December 31, 2023, was set to unite families from Hudpora Khaitangan and Thana Mandi Rajouri. However, the families were connected through a middleman, Sharif Ah Gaasi, from Kakapora Pulwama, who had become unresponsive to their inquiries.

To address this situation, a First Information Report (FIR) was promptly registered at Police Station Baramulla under the relevant sections of the law, and an investigation was launched. The Police Party of Police Post Delina, acting swiftly, traced the suspect to Srinagar using a combination of diligent efforts and technical means.

Preliminary findings of the investigation revealed that the suspect had engaged in fraudulent activities, deceiving the concerned family with false promises related to the marriage. The individual illicitly acquired a substantial amount, totaling Rs. 1.18 lakhs, from the unsuspecting family.

The accused was promptly arrested in connection with the case and subsequently taken into custody at Police Station Baramulla. Ongoing investigations aim to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the marriage scam, ensuring a thorough examination of the fraudulent activities and the extent of their impact on the affected family. Authorities are committed to unraveling the full details of the case and taking appropriate legal actions against the perpetrator.
