16 Higher Secondary Schools and 21 Schools Without Principals and Headmasters in

In Kulgam, a district in South Kashmir, a significant issue has been brought to light. Sixteen higher secondary schools and 21 schools are operating without principals and headmasters.

This lack of leadership has severely impacted the functioning of these educational institutions. Parents have expressed concern that their children’s schools are running without proper supervision.

The absence of principals and headmasters is detrimental to the quality of education. Parents are urging the authorities to appoint principals and headmasters as soon as possible to ensure their children receive quality education.

A head of the school is crucial to prevent educational institutions from becoming directionless. The vacant positions are causing significant issues, and parents are calling on the authorities to fill these vacancies promptly.

In addition to the lack of principals and headmasters, key positions such as Chief Education Officer (CEO), Deputy CEO, three Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), and four Zonal Education Planning Officers (ZEPOs) have been vacant for months.

Furthermore, 124 lecturer posts are also vacant, adding to the crisis in the education sector in Kulgam. An anonymous education department official stated that without these key positions, essential tasks like infrastructural development, tendering, transfers, and school monitoring are impossible.

District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Mohammad Afzal Parray has submitted a memorandum to LG Manoj Sinha and the former Chief Secretary regarding these issues, but unfortunately, no action has been taken.

Parray once again urges the LG Administration to address this matter urgently, highlighting the need for swift action to resolve the crisis in the education sector in Kulgam.
