Court Issues Summon To Facebook Admin Mudasir Aziz in Defamation Case

A local court in Srinagar has taken action in response to a defamation plea filed by the NGO “Smile Foundation” against a Facebook admin named Mudasir Bashir, also known as Mudasir Aziz.

The NGO alleges that Mudasir circulated “malafide videos” targeting the organization. The court, through an order issued by Munsiff/Sub Registrar Srinagar Adnan Manzoor Naqashbandi, has restrained Mudasir from interfering with the affairs of the NGO or uploading any videos related to it.

Furthermore, the court has directed Mudasir to remove all content pertaining to the case from his Facebook pages. He has been given a deadline until the next hearing on March 26 to respond to the notice. This legal action comes as a result of the plaintiff NGO’s representation in court by advocates Talib Hussain and Seerat Mehraj.

The defamation plea alleges that Mudasir has been managing multiple Facebook pages using various names, including ‘Kashmir Youth Power’, ‘News Express’, ‘Mission Kashmir’, and ‘Mudasir Aziz’.

The plaintiff accuses him of masquerading as a journalist to defame individuals and settle personal grudges. The court’s intervention underscores the seriousness with which defamation cases involving social media are being addressed.
