ACB Arrests Patwari and Agent for Accepting Bribe of 25K in

The Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Patwari and his agent for accepting a bribe in Jammu. The arrest was made on Thursday following a trap set by the ACB.

According to a statement issued to the news agency Kashmir News Observer, the ACB received a complaint against Parvez Ahmed, Patwari of Halqa Gurha Manhasan, Pargwal, Jammu. The complaint alleged that Ahmed was demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 to enter court directions into the revenue record for a piece of land.

The complainant, who did not want to pay the bribe, requested legal action against the Patwari. The ACB registered the complaint under Case FIR No. 07/2024 U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 r/w 120-B IPC at ACB Police Station Jammu.

During the investigation, the ACB constituted a trap team to catch the accused in the act. The team successfully caught Parvez Ahmed and his agent, Vijay Kumar, also known as Babbu, who is a former Panch, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant.

Both Parvez Ahmed and Vijay Kumar were arrested on the spot. Following the arrest, the ACB conducted house searches at the residences of both accused individuals.

The searches are ongoing as part of the investigation process. The ACB is committed to rooting out corruption and taking stringent action against those involved in corrupt practices.

The arrest of the Patwari and his agent highlights the active efforts of the ACB in combating corruption within the region. The case remains under investigation, and further developments are expected as the ACB continues its inquiry.
