4 killed, 2 critically injured as vehicle falls in river in Central kashmir
In a tragic incident near Gagangeer, Sonamarg, in Ganderbal district, a vehicle carrying tourists from Sonamarag to Srinagar met with a devastating accident. The vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into the river Sindh, resulting in the loss of four lives. Among the nine individuals onboard, four died on the spot, while two were rescued and rushed to Srinagar’s SKIMS hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, two passengers remain missing, and the driver sustained minor injuries.
The deceased victims’ identities have not yet been confirmed, while the injured have been identified as Nima Pasang Sherpa, son of Kale Sherpa from Nepal, and Sameer Ahmad, son of Sageer Ahmad from Uttar Pradesh. The driver, identified as Muhammad Saleem Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir from Nillah Najwan, sustained minor injuries and received medical attention at a nearby hospital.
Due to adverse weather conditions and darkness, the rescue operation had to be called off. The inclement weather posed significant challenges, hindering further search and rescue efforts. Despite the valiant efforts of emergency responders, the harsh conditions made it unsafe to continue the operation.
