YouTuber Dhruv Rathee Booked by Maharashtra Police Over Fake Message Posted by Parody Account

Maharashtra Police Book YouTuber Dhruv Rathee Over Fake Message

A parody account on social media has landed popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in trouble, as Maharashtra’s cyber police have registered a case against him.

The parody account, with the handle @dhruvrahtee, posted a fake message claiming that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s daughter had cleared the UPSC exam without appearing for it.

The account’s bio clearly stated that it was a fan and parody account, not affiliated with Rathee’s original account.

Despite this, police booked Rathee under various sections, including defamation and intentional insult, based on a complaint from a relative of Birla.

The police official acknowledged that the alleged fake message was posted by a parody account, but said they are investigating the matter.

The parody account has since deleted all posts and comments related to Anjali Birla and apologized for sharing misinformation.

Rathee has not commented on the matter, but his supporters are likely to question the police’s actions against him.

The incident highlights the complexities of social media and the importance of verifying information before taking action.
