JEE-Main Results: 56 Achieve Perfect Score, JEE-Advanced Cut-off Hits 5-Year High

New Delhi: Breaking records, 56 candidates, including two females, attained a perfect 100 NTA score in the JEE-Main engineering entrance exam, announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Wednesday night. This achievement highlights a significant milestone in this year’s examination cycle.

The qualifying percentile for the subsequent JEE (Advanced) exam, the gateway to admission in the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), has reached a five-year peak. In the January session, 23 candidates secured a perfect score, with an additional 33 in the April session, totaling to the remarkable 56 toppers.

Among the top performers, 40 hail from the general category, 10 from OBC, and six from the gen-EWS category. However, no candidates from the SC and ST categories achieved the coveted 100 NTA score this year, underscoring existing challenges in equitable representation.

NTA officials clarified that the NTA score does not equate to a percentage of marks but represents normalized scores across multiple sessions. This method ensures fairness by considering the relative performance of all examinees in each session.

Regrettably, 39 candidates faced a three-year ban from JEE-Main for resorting to unfair means during the examination, reinforcing the importance of ethical conduct in such competitive assessments.

The ranking process incorporates the best of two NTA scores, following an established policy. Telangana continues to dominate state-wise, boasting 15 candidates in the top scorer list for the third consecutive year, followed by Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, each with seven top scorers.

With nearly 96% of aspirants taking the exam, the journey toward undergraduate engineering and architecture programs in centrally-funded technical institutions and qualification for JEE (Advanced) remains highly competitive. The growing participation underscores the significance of these examinations in shaping academic trajectories.

As registration for JEE (Advanced) commences on April 27, aspirants gear up to vie for approximately 17,385 undergraduate seats across the esteemed IITs, marking another crucial phase in their academic pursuits.
