No Helmet, No Fuel: Additional DC Sopore

Sopore, Dec 27 (WD):

Sopore, Dec 27: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Sopore has taken a bold step to enhance road safety. Fuel station owners are now instructed to deny petrol to two-wheeler riders without crash helmets, a move aimed at reinforcing the importance of helmet usage.

ADC SA Raina emphasized the collective responsibility of the administration and citizens in ensuring road safety. Raina stressed that wearing helmets is a simple yet effective practice that significantly reduces head injury severity in accidents, benefiting both riders and pedestrians.

During a meeting with fuel station owners, Raina directed the installation of CCTV surveillance cameras and ensured night fuelling to enhance security. Additionally, petrol stations within the jurisdiction are mandated to provide washroom facilities for the convenience of commuters.

As part of the initiative, fuel station owners have been given a three-day deadline to make air compressor facilities available. This step aims to assist motorists in maintaining optimal tire pressure, contributing to safer journeys on Sopore’s roads. The ADC’s measures underscore a commitment to prioritizing citizen well-being and fostering a safer environment for all road users.-(WD)
