Fresh Date for NEET-PG To be Announced Within Two Days: Pradhan
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced on Saturday that the new schedule for NEET-PG will be released by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) within the next two days. This announcement came amid ongoing concerns about alleged irregularities in various competitive exams, which led to the cancellation of several tests last week.
Pradhan made this statement in Panchkula during Haryana BJP’s extended state executive meeting. The rescheduling of NEET-PG is part of a broader effort to address these irregularities and ensure the integrity of the examination process.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has already announced revised dates for three other exams that were previously cancelled. The University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), which was cancelled on June 18 due to a compromised question paper, will now take place from August 21 to September 4. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the matter.
The UGC-NET determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowships, assistant professorships, and PhD admissions. Initially conducted offline on a single day, the rescheduled exam will return to its previous format as a Computer Based Test (CBT) over a two-week period.
Additionally, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) UGC-NET, postponed amid the row over exam irregularities, is now scheduled for July 25-27. This exam is crucial for PhD admissions in various scientific disciplines.
The National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), initially set for June 12, will be held on July 10. This test is important for admissions to several central and state institutions, including IITs and NITs.
In response to the allegations of irregularities in exams like NEET-UG and NET, the government has established a panel to ensure the fair and transparent conduct of exams via the NTA. This move aims to restore trust in the examination process.
These measures reflect the government’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and transparency of the country’s competitive examinations, ensuring that students and institutions can rely on a fair testing environment.
