Kashmir Boat Capsize: Neither Mother Gets Son’s Clues, Nor Wife Finds Husband

The search operation for the missing bodies of three individuals, including a father-son duo and a fifth-grade student, has entered its third day in Srinagar. Despite the efforts of multiple rescue agencies, including the SDRF, NDRF, and Indian Army’s MARCOS, no traces of the bodies have been found yet. Witnesses reported a daylong search yielding no results, leaving grieving families anxiously awaiting any news.

Officials stated that the search has been ongoing since April 16 when the tragic boat capsize occurred in the Gandabal area of Srinagar. Teams are tirelessly scouring the waters of Jehlum, from Gandabal to Rajbagh Srinagar, with additional teams dispatched to Chattabal Veer area to expand search efforts. The rescue operation is set to continue tomorrow.

In solidarity with the grieving families, hundreds of locals and religious clerics from various schools of thought visited Gandabal to offer condolences and prayers. Notable clerics, including Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi and Moulana Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, joined in mourning the loss.

The tragedy occurred when a boat carrying school students and locals capsized in the waters of Jhelum, resulting in six fatalities and three individuals missing. In light of forecasted rainfall, the District Administration of Srinagar advised the public to refrain from venturing near water bodies and limit activities until the weather improves.
