The meteorological department in Jammu and Kashmir has reported an increase in night temperatures across the region amidst forecasts for isolated light rain and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours. In Srinagar, the summer capital, the minimum temperature rose to 7.4°C, which is 1.0°C above the normal for this time of the year. Similarly, Qazigund, Pahalgam, and Kokernag also experienced above-normal night temperatures, indicating a shift in weather patterns.
Notably, Pahalgam recorded a low of 4.7°C, significantly higher than the previous night, marking a 3.0°C increase above normal. In contrast, Gulmarg, renowned for its skiing resorts, experienced a slightly warmer night at 0.0°C, which is 0.8°C above normal. Jammu, the winter capital, reported a minimum of 16.2°C, indicating warmer conditions compared to the average temperature for this period.
Looking ahead, the forecast suggests partly cloudy weather with the possibility of light rain or snow at isolated places from April 6 to April 10. Subsequently, generally dry weather is expected until April 12, followed by generally cloudy conditions with intermittent light rain or snow at isolated places from April 11 to April 15.
