Weather Update, Met Predicts widespread Rain’s In J&K From
In an update from the meteorological department, night temperatures have witnessed a decline across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, settling below the seasonal average. Notably, Srinagar, the summer capital, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.8°C, marking a 1.6°C deviation from the norm for this time of the year. Similarly, Qazigund, known as the gateway to the Kashmir Valley, experienced a drop in temperature, settling at 4.8°C, which was 0.3°C below the usual.
The famous resort town of Pahalgam, nestled in the picturesque south Kashmir, reported a low of 0.5°C, deviating 1.2°C below the average for this season. However, Kokernag in the same region recorded a minimum of 5.6°C, slightly above the normal temperature by 0.5°C. Meanwhile, Kupwara in north Kashmir witnessed a drop, registering a temperature of 3.6°C, 1.6°C below the seasonal average.
Interestingly, Gulmarg, renowned for its skiing slopes, saw a slight increase in temperature with a low of 1.1°C, marking a deviation of 1.2°C above the usual for this time of year.
Conversely, the winter capital Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 15.7°C, indicating a deviation of 1.4°C below the norm. Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah also reported their respective night temperatures, with Banihal at 7.2°C, Batote at 10.0°C, and Bhaderwah at 7.2°C.
Looking ahead, meteorological forecasts suggest generally dry weather conditions until April 5, with April 3 expected to bring fairly widespread rain across the region. As temperatures continue to fluctuate, residents and visitors alike are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure their well-being.
