Pakistani Court Order’s Immediate Release Of IMRAN KHAN & His Wife
Former Pakistani PM Imran Khan Acquitted in Illegal Marriage Case
After spending nearly a year in jail, former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been acquitted in the un-Islamic marriage case.
The case was the only reason for Khan’s continued imprisonment, and his acquittal raises questions about his potential release.
The conviction was based on a complaint filed by Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband, Khawar Fareed Maneka, who alleged that the couple married during her Iddat period, which is forbidden in Islam.
Khan and his wife challenged the sentence in a district and session court in Islamabad, which heard the case and reserved its verdict earlier in the day.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka announced the acquittal of Khan and Bushra Bibi, stating that they should be released immediately if they are not wanted in any other case.
However, it is unclear whether Khan will be released from jail, as he faces other cases, including the Toshakhana corruption case, for which his sentence was suspended, and the cipher case, in which he was acquitted.
Khan’s acquittal in the illegal marriage case marks a significant development in his legal battles, and his supporters will likely welcome the news.
The 71-year-old former prime minister and his wife, Bushra Bibi, 49, can now breathe a sigh of relief as they have been cleared of this particular charge.
