Weather Update,Rain/Snow Predicted in J&K for coming Days

Kashmir is preparing for the arrival of light to moderate rains, with night temperatures witnessing an increase across the region. According to meteorological forecasts, fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thunders are expected over the next 48 hours.

In Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, the minimum temperature rose to 9.9°C, which is notably above normal for this time of the year, registering a deviation of 5.2°C from the previous night’s 4.2°C.

Similarly, other areas in Kashmir experienced deviations from normal temperatures. Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 6.4°C, Pahalgam saw a low of minus 3.0°C, Kokernag settled at 8.2°C, Kupwara recorded 7.3°C, and Gulmarg marked 3.2°C. These temperatures indicate variations from normal levels, with some areas experiencing significant deviations.

Meanwhile, in Jammu, the winter capital of J&K, the minimum temperature was recorded at 18.4°C, indicating a deviation of 3.5°C below normal.

The meteorological department forecasts the possibility of light to moderate rain/snow accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds over the plains of both Kashmir and Jammu divisions until March 22. Subsequently, on March 23, generally dry weather is expected, followed by partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow at few places on March 24.

Looking further ahead, from March 25-26, generally dry weather is anticipated, while from March 27-28, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy with a possibility of light rain/snow at few places. These forecasts provide crucial insights for residents and authorities to prepare for potential weather-related impacts.
