In Jammu and Kashmir, the night temperatures witnessed a slight increase amidst cloud cover but remained below normal on Friday. Srinagar recorded a low of 7.8°C, still 1.9°C below the seasonal average. Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kokernag, and Kupwara also experienced temperatures below normal, ranging from 2.3°C to 3.6°C lower than usual for this time of year.
Gulmarg, renowned for its skiing, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.0°C, marginally below normal. Meanwhile, Jammu recorded a low of 17.6°C, which was 5.0°C below its seasonal average. Other areas like Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah also saw temperatures below normal, indicating cooler-than-usual conditions across the region.
According to the meteorological department, partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder is expected at scattered places until May 4. On May 5, generally dry weather with afternoon thundershower activity is anticipated at isolated places. From May 6 to May 7, partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder is expected at a few places.
Looking further ahead, from May 8 to May 10, generally dry weather with afternoon thundershower activity is forecasted at few places across Jammu and Kashmir.
