Kashmir Records Drops In Night Temp, Wet Weather Forecast From March 12-14

March 8 (WD) Night temperatures in Kashmir Valley have witnessed a decline, with Gulmarg reporting a chilly minus 7.6°C on Friday. According to a meteorological department official speaking to WD, Srinagar recorded a minimum of 1.8°C compared to 2.1°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 1.5°C below normal for this time of the year.

Qazigund, known as the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of 0.4°C, down from 1.8°C the previous night, indicating a deviation of 1.8°C below normal. Similarly, Pahalgam, a famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 3.4°C compared to minus 0.4°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 2.0°C below normal.

Kokernag, also located in south Kashmir, registered a minimum temperature of 0.5°C, down from 0.1°C the previous night, indicating a deviation of 1.4°C below normal. Kupwara town recorded a low of 1.1°C compared to 2.5°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 0.7°C below normal.

Gulmarg, situated in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and renowned for its skiing activities, recorded a low of minus 7.6°C compared to minus 4.2°C the previous night

and experienced a significant deviation of 6.9°C below normal temperatures. Meanwhile, Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6°C, which was notably below normal by 9.4°C for the winter capital of J&K.

In addition to these observations, Banihal recorded a low of 1.2°C, Batote 3.6°C, and Bhaderwah 1.8°C. The weatherman has forecasted mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir until March 10, stating, “No significant weather activity is expected till March 10.” However, from March 12-14, light to moderate rain/snow is anticipated at most places across the region.
