Weather update, Rain Snow Expected in J&K From

The weather department in Srinagar has forecasted rains and snow until March 14, leading to an increase in night temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 6.3°C, which was 3.0°C above normal for this time of the year.

Similarly, Qazigund registered a minimum temperature of 4.4°C, indicating a 2.2°C increase from the previous night. Pahalgam and Kokernag, famous resorts in south Kashmir, also experienced higher than usual temperatures, with Pahalgam recording 2.2°C and Kokernag recording 4.4°C.

In north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Gulmarg, a renowned skiing resort, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.0°C, indicating a 2.5°C increase from the previous night. Meanwhile, Kupwara town recorded a low of 4.0°C, 2.7°C higher than normal. Jammu, the winter capital of J&K, saw a minimum temperature of 14.4°C, slightly above normal.

The forecast suggests a possibility of light rain and snow at a few places from March 11-12, with Wednesday potentially experiencing light to moderate rain and snow at widespread places. There’s also a chance of light rain and snow at a few places on March 14. However, generally dry weather is expected from March 15-18.
