Weather Update, MeT forecasts mainly dry,hot weather in J&K
The meteorological department in Srinagar has forecast mainly dry and “hot” weather in Jammu and Kashmir until May 10, with the possibility of afternoon thundershowers in some areas. On May 11, there’s a prediction of partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder expected at a few places.
Moving to May 12, generally cloudy conditions with light rain or snow in higher elevations and thunder activity in select areas are anticipated. May 13 is expected to bring partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain forecasted in some places.
Regarding temperatures, Srinagar recorded a low of 10.5°C, slightly below normal, while Qazigund maintained a minimum of 9.0°C, also below normal. Pahalgam registered a low of 5.8°C, above normal, and Kokernag saw 10.3°C, slightly above normal. Kupwara observed a low of 8.6°C, slightly below normal, whereas Gulmarg experienced 7.6°C, significantly above normal.
In the Jammu region, the temperature dipped to 22.1°C, below normal. Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah saw lows of 11.8°C, 15.0°C, and 11.6°C respectively. Thundershower activity during the afternoon is expected in select areas until May 10, with the subsequent days likely to feature partly to generally cloudy weather and light rain or snow in higher elevations.
