Weather Update, Light Rain Expected in J&K From
Weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir experienced a significant shift as the region saw a break in the clouds following recent rainfall. Notably, Gulmarg, renowned for its scenic beauty and skiing opportunities, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1°C, signaling a chill in the air.
According to the Meteorological Department, various parts of the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, Qazigund, Pahalgam, and Kupwara, received varying amounts of rainfall over the past 24 hours. Srinagar registered 6.8mm of rain, contributing to a cooler atmosphere compared to the previous night.
Despite the precipitation, some areas witnessed an increase in night temperatures, while others observed a slight drop. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2°C, slightly above normal for this time of year. Conversely, Kupwara experienced a dip, with temperatures falling to 4.9°C, below the usual range.
In contrast, Jammu saw relatively warmer conditions with a minimum temperature of 17.5°C, slightly above average for the region. However, Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah recorded cooler temperatures ranging from 7.2°C to 10.4°C.
Looking ahead, the forecast suggests generally dry weather over the next 24 hours. However, on Friday, parts of the region may experience partly cloudy skies with light rain or snow in isolated areas. This pattern is expected to continue until April 10, followed by cloudy conditions with intermittent light rain or snow from April 11 to 15.
