MET predicts no significant activity till Jan 24

Srinagar, Jan 14 (WD):

The Meteorological Department forecasts no significant weather activity in Jammu and Kashmir until January 24, despite the expected arrival of two Western Disturbances (WDs) next week. Dry weather is likely until the 24th, with minor disturbances on January 16 and 20.

During the influence of these WDs, generally cloudy weather with light rain and snow is expected over isolated areas from January 16th to 20th night. However, no significant weather events are expected until January 24. The possibility of scattered rain and snow from January 25-27 is mentioned, with updates to follow.

Dense fog and cold day conditions in the plains of the Jammu region are anticipated until January 16. In the Kashmir valley, ‘Chillai-Kalan,’ the 40-day harsh winter period, is ongoing and will last until January 29. It is followed by ‘Chillai-Khurd’ from January 30 to February 19 and ‘Chillai-Bachha’ from February 20 to March 1.
