The meteorological department in Srinagar forecasts precipitation in the form of rain and snow at elevated areas in Jammu and Kashmir starting from tomorrow. Despite the prevailing cold conditions across the Valley, the weatherman predicts light activity, particularly at isolated higher reaches, commencing on Tuesday.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir, experienced its coldest night of the season with temperatures plummeting to minus 4.8 degrees Celsius. Sub-zero temperatures were widespread across all stations, including Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, which recorded a low of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg, renowned as a ski resort, reported a minimum temperature of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius.

while Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination, registered a chilly minus 4.7 degrees Celsius.

Other areas, such as Kupwara, saw the mercury settle at minus 4.0 degrees Celsius, and Kokernag recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius.

Amidst this sharp decline in temperatures, the weatherman anticipates light rain and snowfall at isolated higher reaches from December 12-15. However, there are no expectations of major weather disturbances during this period in Jammu & Kashmir.
