J&K to Experience Another Spell of Heat Wave: MeT

Srinagar, 10 June (WD): After enjoying several days of pleasant weather, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is set to face another heat wave. The last significant spell of high temperatures was just a few weeks ago, and now residents are being cautioned to prepare for more extreme heat.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Srinagar, this fresh heat wave is expected to begin on the 11th of June. This forecast follows a period of relatively moderate weather, providing a brief respite for the people of the region.

The weather from the 10th to the 17th of June is predicted to be “generally dry,” with occasional light rain or thunderstorms possible in isolated areas. These conditions will prevail across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, impacting daily life and activities.

Farmers, in particular, have been advised by the Meteorological Centre to resume their farming operations. The advisory suggests that the expected weather conditions are conducive for agricultural activities, despite the anticipated heat wave.

The upcoming heat wave poses several challenges, especially in regions that are not accustomed to prolonged high temperatures. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated.

Healthcare professionals recommend that individuals, especially the elderly and children, avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours. Staying indoors, wearing light clothing, and drinking plenty of fluids are essential to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Public awareness campaigns are likely to be intensified to educate people about the dangers of heat waves and the steps that can be taken to mitigate their impact. This includes information on recognizing symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

As the region braces for the upcoming weather conditions, the authorities are monitoring the situation closely. Updates and advisories will continue to be issued to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in Jammu and Kashmir.
