Jammu Kashmir Weather Report: Current Conditions Revealed

Gulmarg and Pahalgam, two popular tourist destinations in the stunning region of Jammu and Kashmir, experienced freezing temperatures overnight. Despite the chilly weather, the minimum temperatures in the rest of the state remained above normal.


According to a spokesperson from the meteorological department, Srinagar, the capital city, recorded a low of 4.8°C, slightly higher than the 4.5°C recorded the previous night. Shockingly, this temperature was 5.7°C above the average for this time of year in Srinagar.

Qazigund, a gateway town to the picturesque Kashmir Valley, registered a minimum temperature of 3.4°C, higher than the 2.2°C from the previous night. The temperature was 4.4°C above normal for this region.



In the famous resort town of Pahalgam, the temperature dropped to minus 0.4°C, a decrease from the 0.5°C recorded the previous night. However, even with this dip, the temperature was still 2.9°C above the usual average for this time of year.

Kokernag, another beautiful town in south Kashmir, experienced a minimum temperature of 2.2°C, slightly higher than the 2.0°C from the previous night. This reading was 2.8°C higher than the normal average for the area.



Moving to the north of the region, Kupwara town registered a low of 2.3°C, down from the 2.6°C observed the previous night. Nevertheless, temperatures remained 3.7°C higher than normal in this area.

Gulmarg, renowned for its world-class skiing opportunities, endured freezing temperatures with a low of minus 3.3°C. This was a decrease from the minus 1.8°C recorded the previous night, but still slightly above the average for this time of year.

In the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu, the minimum temperature was 11.2°C, a slight increase from the 10.7°C recorded the previous night. This reading remained 1.4°C above the normal average for this region.


Looking ahead, the meteorological spokesperson stated that the weather is expected to be partly cloudy from December 2nd to 7th. From December 8th to 10th, it is expected to be generally cloudy. Additionally, there is an anticipated fall in minimum temperatures by 3-5°C from December 2nd onwards. Tourists and locals are advised to prepare for the changing weather conditions in the coming days.
