Fake Computer Engineer Blackmailing Public, arrested in Kashmir

Wattandaily.com Reports; Man posing as a fake computer engineer and targeting people in Handwara district through social media platforms has been apprehended by Handwara Police in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The accused, identified as Atif Qureshi, exploited individuals’ fear of leaked data by falsely personifying himself as a computer engineer.

He initially contacted victims on social media, claiming their personal data had been compromised.

Presenting himself as a helpful professional, he offered to remove their data from the internet for a fee. Some victims, fearing exposure, fell into his trap and complied with his extortion demands.

A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the law, and he has been taken into custody. Initial investigations reveal that he systematically targeted numerous individuals, exploiting their fears to carry out his nefarious activities.
