Veteran ghazal-playback singer and Padma Shri recipient Pankaj Udhas passed away on Monday (February 26) in Mumbai. He was 72 years old.

Pankaj Udhas leaves behind a legacy as a celebrated musician known for his contributions to the world of Ghazal music. His passing is mourned by fans and the music community alike.

His family issued a statement confirming the sad news. “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness,” the Udhas family said.

Reportedly, Pankaj Udhas had been suffering from a prolonged illness and wasn’t keeping well in the last few days.

He died on Monday morning at around 11 am at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai.
