Kashmir University Announces 10-Day Summer Vacation From
Srinagar, Jul 15: The University of Kashmir (KU) has announced a summer break for its affiliated private colleges, scheduled to commence on July 18 and conclude on July 27. This announcement was made on Monday, bringing relief to students and staff as temperatures soar.
According to the news agency Wattandaily (WD), the Dean of the College Development Council issued an order confirming the break. This order applies to all private sector colleges affiliated with KU, specifically those located in the Kashmir division and the winter zone of the Jammu division.
The order specifies that the break is exclusively for students. Despite the holiday, all teaching and non-teaching staff are required to be available during inspection days. These inspections will occur as and when necessary, ensuring that college operations remain smooth and efficient.
In addition to staff availability, the order also mandates that college libraries remain open throughout the break. This ensures that students still have access to academic resources during the summer hiatus, supporting their continuous learning.
This move by KU comes in response to the intense summer heat, which can be particularly challenging in the region. By implementing a summer break, the university aims to provide some respite to the college community, promoting better health and well-being.
The university has assured that this break will not affect the academic calendar significantly. Adjustments have been made to ensure that the academic schedule remains on track, preventing any disruption to the students’ education.
Private colleges are advised to adhere strictly to the guidelines provided by KU. Compliance will be monitored, and any deviations might attract penalties or other administrative actions.
Overall, this decision has been welcomed by students and faculty alike, who look forward to a short break from the academic routine. The University of Kashmir continues to prioritize the welfare of its students and staff while maintaining academic integrity.
