Traffic Update: Jammu-Srinagar NHW and Adjacent Routes

Jammu/Srinagar – From 17th to 18th March 2024, repair work at Dalwas caused a one-hour blockage on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Additionally, slow movement was reported due to breakdowns and single-lane traffic at various points, urging caution from drivers.

Passengers and light vehicle operators are advised to schedule journeys during daylight hours due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal during nighttime. Load carriers should adhere to weight advisories, especially considering the single-lane traffic and poor road conditions at Dalwas.

HMV operators are reminded to avoid overloading, ensure vehicle fitness, and carry sufficient fuel for the journey on the NHW. Specific regulations apply to HMVs with 06 and 10 tires, restricting their passage through Dhar road.

Traffic Plan and Advisory for 19th March 2024:LMVs are permitted on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW from both directions, subject to favorable weather and road conditions. However, HMVs will be assessed for passage from NAVYUG Tunnel towards Jammu, with designated cut-off timings for LMVs to manage traffic flow efficiently.

Security forces are urged to comply with traffic plans to avoid congestion, especially between Nashree and Banihal. Their convoy movement will be coordinated based on NHW status, particularly from Srinagar towards Jammu.

Road Conditions Update:Various roads, including SSG Road, Mughal Road, Bhaderwah-Chamba Road, and Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244, remain blocked due to snow accumulation, impacting travel in the region.

Advisory for Travelers:Travelers are advised to verify road statuses from Traffic Control Units before embarking on journeys. Contact numbers for Jammu, Srinagar, Ramban, Udhampur, and PCR Kishtwar are provided for real-time updates and assistance regarding road conditions and travel advisories.
