Traffic Advisory:Jammu and Srinagar National highway

At the Traffic Police Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir, specifically in Jammu and Srinagar, observations on March 10, 2024, indicated a significant slowdown in traffic movement along NH-44. This was primarily due to a landslide and poor road surface conditions at Dalwas. Additionally, a directive was issued stating that only heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) equipped with either 6 or 10 tires would be permitted to travel through Dhar road.

Looking ahead to March 11, 2024, a traffic plan and advisory were formulated. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, NH-44, was experiencing severe road surface issues at Dalwas. Consequently, a decision regarding vehicular movement on NH-44 would be made the following day after the road is cleared. Residents were strongly urged to avoid traveling on NH-44 until further notice.

In terms of other routes, the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road (SSG Road), Mughal Road, Bhaderwah-Chamba Road, and Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244 remained blocked due to snow accumulation.

An advisory was issued advising individuals to verify the status of NH-44 from Traffic Control Units before embarking on any journeys. Contact numbers were provided for various locations, including Jammu, Srinagar, Ramban, Udhampur, and Kishtwar, along with the PCR Kishtwar for updates specifically related to the Sinthan Road. It emphasized the importance of staying informed to ensure safe travel amidst the challenging conditions.
