Three Youth Injured in Knife Stabbing Incident During NC Rally in Mendhar Poonch

Poonch, May 19 (WD): Three persons were injured in an alleged knife attack during a rally attended by National Conference President and party candidate for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency in Mendhar Poonch district on Sunday.

Official sources told WD that the incident occurred on the sidelines of the rally when a clash erupted between two groups, leading to a knife attack. The altercation resulted in injuries to three individuals, one of whom is reported to be in serious condition.

All the injured were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. From there, they were referred to GMC Rajouri for advanced medical treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

Dr. Javid Ahmad confirmed to WD that the condition of one of the victims, identified as Suhail Ahmad, son of Mohd Bashir and a resident of Qasab Mendhar, is critical. He is receiving intensive care.

The other two injured have been identified as Yasir Ahmad, 22, son of Mohd Shabir, a resident of Gultha Harni, and Imran Ahmad. Sources indicate that Imran fled the hospital for reasons yet to be determined.

A police official confirmed to WD that a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. While no arrests have been made so far, the police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the culprits involved in the stabbing.

In the aftermath of the incident, local residents gathered at the main chowk in Mendhar to protest. They demanded justice for the victims and called for swift action against those responsible for the violence.

The knife attack during the political rally has heightened tensions in the area, prompting calls for enhanced security measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in their investigation.
