Three Detained in JK For Not Reporting Militants Taking Food

Reasi, June 18 – In a significant development following recent terror attacks, three individuals, including a minor, have been detained by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for allegedly failing to inform authorities that militants took food from them at gunpoint. This comes in the wake of back-to-back attacks on security personnel in Doda district.

The detained individuals are from Darman village in the Jhai area of Doda’s Bhaderwah tehsil. Among them is a 17-year-old. The police stated that these individuals did not report the militants’ presence, which could have provided crucial information for preventing further attacks.

The militants had first attacked a joint police-Army checkpoint in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah, injuring five Army personnel and a police officer. The following day, they launched another attack at Kota Top in the Bhalessa area of Gandoh tehsil, injuring another police officer.

Investigations revealed that the four militants, believed to be Pakistani nationals, spent several days in the Jhai area before carrying out these attacks. During their stay, they coerced locals, who were camping in the highland meadows with their livestock, to provide them with food.

Despite being forced at gunpoint, the locals did not inform the authorities about the militants’ presence. After detaining the three individuals, the police obtained descriptions of the militants and released sketches to aid in their capture.

The police have announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any information leading to the militants’ capture. Extensive search operations are ongoing in the upper areas of Bhaderwah, Thathri, and Gandoh in Doda district to locate the militants.

In Reasi district, where militants attacked a Katra-bound bus on June 9, killing nine pilgrims and injuring several others, more than 50 suspects have been detained. The police claim to have uncovered significant leads regarding the perpetrators of the attack.

The search operations have been expanded to remote areas such as Arnas and Mahore in Reasi district. These efforts aim to gather more evidence and apprehend any militants hiding in these areas, thereby enhancing security and preventing further attacks.
