Star Hospital’s OT Sealed Due to Unsafe Conditions by
The operating theatre at Star Hospital in Srinagar has been sealed by health authorities due to severe unhygienic conditions.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Srinagar, Dr. Tahir Sajad, confirmed the sealing and described the theatre’s conditions as “totally inhumane” and “very shabby”.
The inspection team found the theatre’s conditions to be so dire that they couldn’t be used for operating on animals, let alone humans.
The theatre’s foul smell and extreme heat were also criticized, with temperatures reaching as high as 50 degrees.
The inspection team faced challenges when staff members and owners of the hospital misbehaved with them, leading to the involvement of local police.
The hospital will be sealed once all patients are discharged, and legal action will be pursued against the hospital for violating health standards.
The CMO emphasized that the health and safety of patients are of utmost importance, and such violations will not be tolerated.
This action serves as a warning to other healthcare facilities to maintain proper hygiene and safety standards to avoid similar consequences.
