Srinagar-Jammu National Highway Important Traffic Update

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which had been closed for two days due to multiple landslides between Nashri and Banihal, was reopened by authorities on Wednesday. Following the improvement in weather conditions, efforts were made to clear the debris and restore traffic flow along the highway.

According to a traffic official speaking to News Agency wattan Daily, light motor vehicles (LMVs) were allowed to travel in both directions on the highway. However, slow movement was reported between Nashri and Banihal due to the poor road conditions and the presence of nomadic flocks.

Authorities deployed men and machinery to work at various locations along the highway to ensure the timely clearance of debris and facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles. Despite the reopening of the highway, commuters were advised to adhere to lane discipline to avoid congestion caused by overtaking.

The restoration of two-way traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway brought relief to travelers who had been inconvenienced by the closure due to landslides. The efforts to clear the debris and reopen the highway underscored the commitment of authorities to ensuring connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar.

While the movement of vehicles was allowed, caution was advised due to the prevailing road conditions and the presence of nomadic flocks in certain areas. The reopening of the highway marked a significant development in restoring normalcy and facilitating transportation between the two key cities.

As traffic resumed on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, commuters were urged to exercise caution, follow traffic regulations, and cooperate with authorities to ensure safe and efficient travel. The reopening of the highway after being closed for two days due to landslides reflected the coordinated efforts of authorities to address challenges and maintain essential transportation links.
