Restaurant Owners Set Building Ablaze for Insurance Money Arrested
In a shocking turn of events, two residents of Kupwara have been apprehended for their alleged role in setting ablaze a building, resulting in a fatal tragedy.
The incident, which occurred earlier this month in the Batergam area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, saw the deliberate ignition of a three-storied shopping complex housing a restaurant owned by the suspects.
According to reliable sources, the motive behind the arson was an attempt to claim insurance after the perpetrators failed to repay a bank loan. The tragic outcome claimed the life of Muhammad Feroz Alam, an embroider hailing from West Bengal, who resided on the third storey of the complex.
Prompt police intervention led to the swift apprehension of the suspects within a week of the incident. Following thorough interrogation, the individuals identified as Abrar and Zakir, who operated the restaurant within the building, emerged as prime suspects.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that both suspects confessed to their involvement in the arson after a comprehensive investigation. The tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the consequences of reckless actions motivated by financial desperation.
