Public reaction to Public Darbaar Chaired by DG Police J&K

Awantipora, Jan 23 (WD):

The Public Darbar conducted by Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain at District Police Lines (DPL) Awantipora has proven to be a valuable initiative, providing a direct avenue for the public to voice concerns and seek assistance from law enforcement. This approach, embraced by hundreds of participants, is praised for fostering transparency, community involvement, and strengthening the police-public relationship.

During the Darbar, around 1200 applications were submitted, leading to on-the-spot resolutions for many issues. DGP Swain assured the formation of a committee for pending cases. One woman from Anantnag district, recounting her struggles since her husband’s death two years ago, expressed gratitude after DGP’s assurance that her son would secure employment under SRO.

An elderly man from Budgam highlighted the Darbar’s significance in addressing land ownership disputes, crediting DGP’s intervention for providing a platform for justice. Another individual from Pulwama, facing challenges for eight months, reported DGP’s prompt action against an official pressuring him to become a distributor.

The attendees emphasized the need for similar redressal programs in every district, underscoring their importance in swiftly resolving issues faced by the less privileged.
