Police Officer Suspended For Negligence In Gangster Murder Case
Sub-Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was suspended on Tuesday due to alleged negligence related to the murder of a gangster from Jammu in Mohali, Punjab, last week.
Gangster Rajesh Dogra, recently released from jail, was killed by members of a rival gang in broad daylight on March 4. Following the incident, a departmental inquiry was initiated against two other police personnel.
Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vinod Kumar issued the order, transferring Sub-Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad from the Sarwal police post to the district police lines and suspending him with immediate effect.
The suspension was attributed to alleged negligence, as Mushtaq Ahmad failed to keep watch over the gangster, who was outside Jammu and Kashmir at the time of the incident.
Additionally, a departmental inquiry was launched against the Bakshi Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) and the Sarwal police post in-charge. The inquiry will be overseen by the superintendent of police (headquarters).
Despite prescribed protocols outlined in the Jammu and Kashmir Police manual, neither the beat officer nor the Bakshi Nagar Police Station SHO took appropriate action to closely monitor the history-sheeter, as stated by SSP Vinod Kumar.
